This section is for whoever writes and maintains what the site says. No code.

How a change reaches the site

Nothing you type goes live immediately. A change travels like this:

you edit  →  a draft  →  submitted  →  approved  →  added to a release  →  published

That looks like a lot of steps. In practice it is: write, save, submit, and someone approves and publishes. The steps exist so that nothing reaches visitors without a second person seeing it, and so a set of related changes goes live together rather than one page at a time.

At every point before the last one, visitors are still seeing the old version. The console always tells you which version you are looking at.

The pieces

Documents are the things you edit: pages, articles, legal notices. Each has an address on the site.

Blocks are the sections a document is built from — a hero, a row of features, a call to action. You add, reorder and remove them; you fill in their fields.

Media is the shared library of images and files.

Strings are the bits of wording that appear across the whole site, like button labels, rather than on one page.

Releases are how changes go live. A release is a batch of documents published together.
