Images and files
Media in the sidebar is the shared library. Anything uploaded there can be used on any page.
Uploading
Upload takes images, video, audio and PDFs. Files go into the folder you currently have selected.
Organising
Folders are on the left. They nest, and selecting one filters the grid to it and everything inside it.
Tags are the better tool once you have more than a few dozen files. A file can carry any number, and you can filter by them. Tags cut across folders: a "hero" tag finds every hero image wherever it lives.
Filters across the top narrow the grid by kind — images, video, audio, documents — and by who uploaded a file. The search box matches names, filenames and tags.
The details panel
Click a file to open it. From there:
- Open it full size in a new tab.
- Copy URL for pasting elsewhere.
- Delete it, with a confirmation.
And edit:
| Field | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Title | What people call the file. Renaming here never changes the stored file, so nothing breaks. |
| Alt text | What the image says, for people using a screen reader. |
| Tags | Comma separated. |
| Folder | Move it. |
More info holds the upload date, who uploaded it, dimensions, ratio, file type and size, plus copyright and notes.
Alt text
Write it for every image that carries meaning. Describe what the image says, not what it is: "A drummer using Stagewright on stage" rather than "photo.jpg".
Decorative images that repeat what nearby text already says should have empty alt text, so screen readers skip them.
Deleting
Deleting removes the file for good. Anything still using it will show a broken image, and there is no undo, so the confirmation says as much.
