Sound
You can add sound to your animation, your voice, sound effects, or music, and line it up with the action on a timeline. When you export a video, the sound is included.
Opening the audio timeline
Tap the audio button (the music note) in the top toolbar. An audio panel slides up along the bottom of the editor, docked under your canvas, with a time ruler that lines up with your animation. Tap Done to close it.
Adding sound
From the panel's buttons you can:
- Record directly in DoodLoop using the iPad's microphone (the first time, iPad will ask permission to use the mic). Tap again to stop.
- Import an audio file you already have.
- Add a built-in sound effect: Beep, Pop, Chime, Laser, or Whoosh.
Each sound appears as a clip on its own track (lane), shown as a waveform. You can have several tracks at once for layered sound.
Arranging clips on the timeline
- Move: drag a clip left or right to change when it plays.
- Trim: tap a clip to select it, then drag the handles on its left and right edges to cut the start or end so only the part you want plays.
- The ruler is marked in
mm:sswith a tick for every frame, and the red playhead glides along it as your animation plays.
The panel has playback controls in the middle: skip to start, play/pause, and skip to end.
Editing a clip
Tap a clip to select it. A row of controls appears with:
- Volume: how loud this clip is.
- Speed: play it faster or slower (0.5×–2×). Speeding a clip up makes it shorter on the timeline; slowing it down makes it longer.
- Fade in / Fade out: ease the clip in and out.
- Preview: audition just this clip.
- Delete: remove the clip.
Each track also has mute and lock on the little rail at the left of its lane.
Notes
- Recording and reliable playback need a real iPad; in the Simulator they may not produce sound.
- Audio is saved inside your project file, so it travels with your work when you back it up or copy it.
