Fill (bucket)

The Fill tool floods an area with the current color. Tap inside a shape and it fills up to the surrounding lines.

How to use it

  1. Choose your color.
  2. Tap the Fill tool.
  3. Tap inside the area you want to fill.

It is one action, so a single Undo removes the whole fill.

Options

Open the Fill tool's settings (touch and hold the tool) to fine-tune it.

Threshold

The most important setting. It controls how picky the fill is about color:

  • Low threshold: only fills areas very close to the color you tapped. Use this when your lines are clean and solid.
  • Higher threshold: fills across softer or slightly different colors. Use this when your outlines are soft, anti-aliased, or shaded, so the fill reaches all the way to the edges instead of leaving a halo.

Close gaps

Hand-drawn lines often have tiny breaks where color can leak out. Turn up Close gaps (a few pixels) and DoodLoop treats small breaks as if they were closed, so your fill stays inside the shape. Increase it if color still escapes; keep it at 0 for perfectly closed art.

Smooth edges

On by default. Softens the edge of the fill so it blends neatly against your lines instead of looking jagged. Turn it off for a hard, pixel-exact edge.

Fill whole layer

  • Off (default): fills only the connected area you tapped.
  • On: fills every matching area on the layer at once, even separate ones.

Sample all layers

  • Off (default): the fill looks only at the current layer to decide where to stop.
  • On: the fill uses everything you can see (all layers combined) to find the edges, but still paints onto the current layer. Handy when your outline is on one layer and you are coloring on another.

Coloring line art

Put your outline on its own layer, add a layer beneath it for color, turn on Sample all layers, and fill. Your colors land on the color layer while respecting the outline above.

DoodLoop is proprietary software. No ads, no tracking, your files stay yours.
